I believe theatre education and performance foster confidence and leadership skills in students, which is why I have dedicated my life to this field. Theatre serves as a vital creative outlet for both children and adults. My personal journey has shown me how transformative theatre can be, helping me discover my self-worth and individuality from a young age and continuing to shape my work today. As an educator, I aim to support and guide students so they can trust in their abilities and thrive in a learning environment that values creativity, safety, vulnerability, and courage. In my classroom, students explore the full potential of their bodies as performers and push themselves beyond what they thought possible. It is deeply gratifying to see students leave my class feeling empowered and realizing they are capable of more than they imagined. My goal is for every student to become more confident, whether as a performer or in their everyday life, and to leave my lessons ready for a successful audition or simply feeling good about singing in the shower.
During my undergraduate years, my weekly one-hour voice lesson was always the highlight of my week. I thrived in the one-on-one environment where my voice professor encouraged me to become the performer I had only imagined I could be. As a teacher, I am motivated by the desire to be that positive influence for my students—to help them achieve their goals and become the best versions of themselves. My teaching centers on musical theatre and acting, equipping students with practical tools they can apply to any show or performance. While I prioritize my students' comfort, I am also committed to challenging them when appropriate. I believe students learn best when material is accessible and relatable, so I strive to create vivid verbal images that resonate with them. Recognizing that my perspective is shaped by my own experiences, I am committed to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in my classroom, ensuring every voice is heard and valued. Ultimately, I want every student to feel empowered to advocate for their own boundaries and limits, both as performers and as individuals.
